it's alive!

This is Amy. She is a front-runner in the Cutest Girl in the World
competition. We ran over a swimming pool in a giant hamster ball together.
Yesterday she taught us how to make jiaozi, aka dumplings aka potstickers
aka wantons. The shrimp we used were very fresh.

So fresh, in fact, that they wriggled their legs and feelers in the pot as we
prepared to chop them up. And as we chopped them up. And after we
chopped them up. And as I peeled the shell from a headless tailless one,
it gave a great squirm and I gave a great freakout and we put them in a
pot to cook them before we resumed our work. And then they revived
in the hot water and started jumping out. Needless to say it was very
traumatic for all parties involved and there was a good deal of screaming
and running out of the room, so much so that the girls downstairs came
up to investigate and in turn did a bit of freaking out.

Things settled down after the shrimp turned pink. There was a lot of
chopping and stirring and standing around singing to the Mulan
soundtrack and wrapping and boiling and eating and eating and eating,
because jiaozi are not as delicious as baozi but they are still absolutely
DELICIOUS.

And all the shrimp tr-drama was worth it in the end.
